At the Crossroads

I look left
Then I look right
Then I look left again and realise the road has forked at the point I stand, the left side now has a left left and a right left road.
I look right, and see a left right and a right right and realise the same thing has happened there.
I exhale, flapping my lips so fast I make a raspberry noise and look straight ahead to see two roads have appeared there.
I close my eyes in exhaustion. I dare not look left, nor right, nor behind me, for I know what will happen if I do.

Where am I?
I'm at idea junction of course
....someone please give me a ride on your bicycle
& take me wherever you may,
the decision resting on me to choose is making me miss all the scenery!

oh, to be a well loved dog
 ....with a plethora of cushions

Pet Project (A Video and What Went Wrong...)

Hey artybug =) I've been more prolific so far in the latter half of this week, yesterday I finished a project:
dat der behind Sweepiebum!

and today I made a video on it YAY =D if you just want the video, here it is...or if you want more info & advice (as it is just a fun video, not a tutorial video) continue the further reading underneath about it:

So A LOT of people tell me, once they've watched my videos 'you make it look so easy! I could not do that at all' - yeah I get that a LOT, but I truly believe it only ever looks that way on a video because (most often) it has been chopped and cropped! I STILL go through the same processes is my head 'is this working?', 'will that look rubbish?', 'what's missing here?' - that's why I did the 15 Minute Real-Time Art Journal Page Video, where I tried to talk through as much of the process as possible.
So this Pet Project video seems really easy-breasy right?
Nothing went wrong while doing this right?
WRONG!
Check out the still from the video below; this is where I painted all Sweepie's black bits, well black:
Well...it was the WORST thing I could have possibly done for this painting ---
Because I had already put the darkest colour down I spent the rest of the painting completely battling to make his features, shadows and light come forward. I used every kind of acrylic I had (I found glossy to be the best in the end btw, it added a bit more dimension), but this move could have completely ruined the painting. Did I let it? Hell no! Because I do not believe you can ever, EVER, ruin a piece of artwork to the point where it is impossible to make work again. Whatever you do, whatever mistakes you make, they are all tools to help you learn how to improve your work. Will I ever paint bulk black again? No, next time I'll build it up slowly. Am I sorry I did paint it bulk black, and probably got a lesser-version of the painting I could have ended up with? Not at all. I'm happy for every mistake I ever made in my art, this is why I'm sharing this in this post rather than focusing in more on Sweepiebum (sorry pup pup, you really are just the guinea pig today =( ), to try and share what I can in understanding that:
shedding your fear & making mistakes, makes you 100% a better artist!

Much love
Jennibellie (& Sweepie)

In the Studio

Just a peek at what's been happening in my studio this week (other than the rolled flower tutorial I mean, which obviously took up a lot of my creating time but...) I have done a few things:

New journal pages:
Mandala page from my 'Bunch of Backgrounds' tutorial

The assistant:
'I WILL fit in this space, watch me mold myself in'
'you don't need any slippers, I'm the best foot warmer'
kiss kiss

The Shop:
I've been working really hard on trying to create fab new cute, fun & interesting things for my Etsy shop, here's a sneak peek at some progress:
Not telling you what it's going to be though ;)
so in the meantime I've also made some new colouring-in collage sheets (so they can be customised to match any project you like):
you can buy in my Etsy shop here.

That's all for now folks, I've LOTS 'in the making-of' stage, including videos, blog tutorials, as well as the fabulous new things etc for the etsy shop so you'll probably be seeing something very soon I dare say,
much love Jennibellie xoxo

On a Valentines Day..

hello beautiful, happy valentine mwaaaaaaah!!
How's your valentines been??
In terms of love mine has consisted of a 3am wake up call ;)
...from Sweep but still...
he's been given two new toys so that made his Valentines ;)
'you're turn bone...
now it's yours squeaky squeaky. Nom Nom'
(he has a knack for waking me just as I am staring to nod; two insomniacs together, geesh!)
then I woke up properly to 4 Valentines! *Oh yeah!*
They were all from my sponsored dogs...but still...
& now I've just got back from a lovely date:
it was only Frankie & Benny's & the cinema with my bff but still...
we connect to the point of subconscious matching
single ladies unite!! lol
And now I get to wrap up some pretty presents, again not for/with/from a man but my Etsy shop customers, but still...

I don't really buy into the Valentines stuff (even when not single ~ not bitter single lady speak here I swear! mostly cringes me out more than anything) but this Valentines has been as good as any I've ever had; besides I've never believed that true love comes only from the one source.

Speaking of my Etsy shop, I have finally reopened it properly =) & here's the deets and some general journaling vloggery

And, just because, here's a sneaky peek at my new tutorial:
difficult to show a hint without giving it all away but all will be revealed soon, hoping to get it posted for the weekend =D

That's all folks, hope you've had a fabulous Valentines =D
much love
Jennibellie xoxo

ps quick reminder that my journal giveaway ends in two days, jump to this post if you want to be entered.

pps could I think of a title for this blogpost that was not lame or 'Happy Valentine's Day?', no I could not (try it, I swear no non-cliches - like 'Be Mine, Valentine!' - are possible) but I have 'On a Valentines Day..' song stuck in my head (Linkin Park I think) & as that's as good a descriptive for this post as any so that's what ya got! *shame-head-drop*
I'll try better in the future :/ lol

I'm trying...

desperately to get on and create an eco-friendly diy tutorial for christmas but ya know what?? Muse wants to do other things...seriously she is not leaving me alone to get on with anything, other than what she wants, right then and right there. Look at this paper on my desk - this is from *another* fabulous one hour idea that just had to be executed IMMEDIATELY, no if's, no but's!
One hour?! Just look at this mess - well actually you can't, as I'm intentionally limiting you to just this portion of the desk lol but I'm spending more time cleaning, than I am actually creating with how quickly Muse is changing gears on me. One minute everything needs to be clean and crisp so as to not ruin the pretty metals pieces, beads and gems I'm using, the next paint is EVERYWHERE and I've ruined my freshly painted nails that I thought would be safe for at least a day with the 'clean' crafts lol
Sneaky-peaky at the eco-friendly diy tutorial - yep it really is eco-friendly, just you wait, you'll looooooooooove it =D
But you know what, it may sound like I'm complaining here but HELL NO.
I LOVE IT!!
yeah baby =D

A couple of nights ago Muse made me make this video below for Thanksgiving (even though I'm English lol), in case you haven't seen it here it is:
The Journal giveaway is open to all countries on my facebook page here. Good luck if you enter =)
Byeeeee for now, Jennibellie =D

Recycled Journal Giveaway Winners & A Poorly Pooch

Hello Lovelies, I hope that yesterday you were picking a few chocolates from a big box, after being taken out to a beautiful dinner while your rooms were busy being scented with roses. I myself got just that...or rather just a couple of heart doggy cards from my sponsored pooches lol, oh well may be next Happy Valentines Day :)

Sorry I haven't had time to post this week, my own pooch has been a bit poorly, if truth be told he has been for a while & has been hobbling around on three legs.
Wet pooch, loves jumping through grasses and flowers
We couldn't find anything wrong, the vet couldn't find anything wrong. So yesterday we got him booked for an x-ray and when the poor mite came out all groggy and wobbly, from being knocked out, and looking sorry for himself the whole waiting room in one breathe 'Awwwwwww'ed at him lol. Thankfully nothing broken, but that means muscular so could take months and months to heal and for us to have a properly functional 4-legged dog again. It's so strange to see him on only 3 legs, like he's forgotten he owns a forth :( still better something that'll repair than early arthritis or something else perpetual.
Here is the results of the journal giveaway for the yellow recycled christmas card journal, fingers crossed if you entered.
Hopefully I will get chance to do a proper 'arty' post tomorrow, after I come back from shopping (wahoo!) First time I'd have shopped this year, or for months in fact, but it's only for health & skin care (lush, l'occitane) necessities, I hate clothes shopping :) xxx
