You know I love you... (A Creative Love Note)

You know I love you, I love you so much…it’s just, I feel neglected.

You don’t always acknowledge me.

You think what I’m telling you is a whim, unimportant, an indulgence to pursue.

You don’t give me credit for all that I am and all that I can do for you. The person that you could really be, if you just stopped putting everything before me.

I know I don’t really talk to you much like this.

I know what I normally give you is quiet little inklings and, by comparison, that makes it easier to listen to the roar that is your inner critic.

But just know that whatever the inner critic might throw at you, I’m always still here.

Know that even when you ignore me for days, weeks, months, even years I am still always here.

And though this relationship is a little one sided, with you picking me up and dropping me, without ever showing me the appreciation that I truly deserve for being the amazing force within you, I love you anyways and always…..unconditionally.

And I am here, waiting & ready when you are.

Love
Your Creativity.

#timeforart

It doesn’t matter if you’ve got a busy day.

It doesn’t matter if people are relying on you, and you are the ONLY person in the whole wide world who can do this specific thing for them.

It doesn’t matter if you’ve got better things to be doing.

If you need to make art today *DO IT*.

It is not selfish.

It is not irresponsible.

That’s just society’s echo of ‘sacrifice is what makes you a decent person’ ringing in your ears.

You can leave that voice somewhere else…preferably the garbage bin.

You can find five minutes.

YOU CAN FIND FIVE MINUTES.

Hell you’ve found five minutes for blog hopping haven’t you?

Yeah I am calling you out on all the levels right now.

Because you deserve the break.

You deserve the joy.

You DESERVE to feel whole.

TAKE THE TIME to create for yourself today.

So stop the excuses and stop the procrastinating, go and make your shizzle.

Creative Resistance Remedy ~ A Deeply Honest Post

Guys,

In 2016 I was about to shut 'Jennibellie' down. Close Journal Workshops. Cut my Social Media. Delete this blog. Remove myself from the internet, totally. I was ready to SHUT. IT. DOWN. due to living under the crushing weight of constant resistance. I did speak of this a little at the time on here, with such blogposts as this one, but never sharing the true extent of my anguish.

I had gotten to the point where creativity was not only no longer fun for me, but actually painful. Although 2016 was the pinnacle, where I woke up every day with a black cloud over my head of what I was still not creating, it had taken some time to lead up to that point. It is from the struggle of these years where I discovered through the hard way of traveling out of the darkness back into the light of enjoying creativity again that I have created something wonderful: The Creative Resistance Remedy Workshop.

I never could have imagined during the worst times of my resistance that something good could ever come from it, but it has. This workshop is the genuine stuff it takes to never allow resistance to hold you back from creating that which you want to create again, learnt the hard way, and I offer it to you.

Here is a little video that shares a bit more of the workshop:

I created this workshop because I see too many creatives not achieving their potential due to fear.
If you are sick & tired of being someone in this category then click here to read more and see if you want to be a part of this workshop:

We are here on this planet only once.
We are here to achieve our full potential...
We Are Here to Create!

Hope you come join us... I can't wait to see what you create!
Much love
Jennibellie

PS The workshop currently has an Early Bird Special Price (I like to reward my immediate 'YES' peeps) - get in now and save 1/3rd before it goes up to the regular price!

PPS This workshop is only for creatives who are serious about making their creativity more important than their resistance and are ready to create their projects already.

I Was Scared to Post This Video (& Said Video)

Last night I hit publish on a video I'm a little nervous of releasing...I don't know why, well perhaps I do; because I'm a rather candid in it. Right now I feel a calling to be more forthright in what I share and so I will. I will share more of well me, my deepest thoughts and opinions regarding creative life. However just because I feel I want to do something it does not stop the creative demons coming up to have a party and 'poo poo' all over it.

Considering the video is all about getting on with creating what you want in spite of such things as excuses though I obviously could not listen to the fears when they tell me 'people won't like it', 'you're being too aggressive', 'ra, ra, ra'. So I clenched my teeth, and hit publish anyway.

We are creators, and demons are part of that package, but our choices are still our own.

Excuses, fears, overwhelm, analysis paralysis, comparisonitus cannot act of their own accord. If they are in the drivers seat, honey you gave them the wheel. But that's okay you can still get it back, and you do so by hitting publish on whatever it is you are creating.

Here is the video ~ Art & Life: Do It Your Way

If you would like to join the 'Makers Meet-Up' Group or my online art community generally, you can do so here: http://journalworkshops.ning.com

Much love
Jennibellie

PS Since I hit publish on this video the response has been so OVERWHELMINGLY positive...as per the message of the video 'not knowing how is not an excuse not to do something', it seems the same should be applied to feeling fear!

Hit publish love.

How to Stay Creatively 'on it' (Daily Behind the Scenes Blog 5)

Hi love

This is my fifth & supposedly final daily blog behind the scenes post (though I do have an inkling I might have something to post tomorrow too), you can view yesterdays here. I'm summing up what I've been up to lately all in one week! Today is about what getting out of the non-creative quagmire and staying in the space of creativity.

So at the beginning of the week I posted about my 2016, how uncreative it was and how it has turned around, well in this post I'm going to share how I did that - because when you are feeling that stuck/uncreative/emotional/depressed even, it can be hard to see a way out of it.

Unfortunately I think the main thing it comes down to is something you don't want to hear when you are in that space, in fact it might be the exact opposite to what you want to hear, but it is changing your perspective. Shifting your attitude, yep, told you you don't wanna hear it! But I think deep down we don't want to hear that because we know it is the thing to do that will work. Therefore all our resistance bands together to try to stop us because it knows 'this is gonna be hard'. Your fear and resistance wants you stay where you are, where you are is safe, what's 'out there' isn't safe; it's unknown and it's uncomfortable. So in-spite of everything inside you telling you you can't shift your attitude, that you can't look from another perspective you have to choose to if you want change. When you do this you can then take the steps that will actually bring you out of it...UNTIL you do this though any steps you take will be futile, because what they are doing is dealing with a symptom, not the disease.

So I had to shift from 'this year has been so rubbish/unproductive/uncreative/hard/emotional' to 'I still have x amount of week's left, what can I do in that time to end 2016 with a bang?' It was not easy, nor done in one motion, but once I shifted an inch I did little things to ensure I grabbed it with both hands to gain another inch and keep that momentum going.

This is how you stay creatively on it,
you do not let the momentum you have
(any momentum, not matter how little)
dwindle!

Once I could feel this momentum again I increased my little things to big things - I created the class I mentioned earlier this week, hired the right coach to keep me on track and created the 'Maker's Meet-Up' Group on Journal Workshops to be a creativity 'staying on track' hub for people to bring their projects, creative issues & wins and support one another on our journey:

We meet up each week on fridays, share our projects & have a chat (the chat function on Journal Workshops goes on for all of friday, it's super fun!). Here is the video I posted in today's 'Meet-Up' to give you more of an idea about it:

If you think this might be something that is useful to you
here is the direct link to the group:
http://journalworkshops.ning.com/group/makersmeetup.

I also have to say accountability is one of the biggest things to help you stay creatively on track...I know people always say this but it is because it is true. This is why my hiring a coach has been the best thing I could have done for myself, but she does cost me a bomb - here you are getting a supportive creative environment for nada, so what are you waiting for?

Can't wait to see you over there
Ciao for now & Happy Weekend

A Retiring Year of Uncertainty (& How I've Stayed Certain) - Daily Behind the Scenes Blog 2

Hi love

This is my second daily blog behind the scenes post, you can view yesterdays here. I'm summing up what I've been up to lately all in one week! (Yep, it's a mission! lol)

In this post I'm going to pretty much sum up my entire year.

A couple of days ago I received a message from Connie the creator of 21 Secrets, letting me know that the class I contributed to last year is retiring. This got me to thinking, I thought about all the projects I did last year, including this one. Then I thought of all I've done this year, while still a lot it has definitely been a retiring year for me, and my creativity.

A few months ago, perhaps even a few weeks ago, I would have said I would be ready for 2016 to be over.

Not much had gone my way, my creativity while I wouldn't use the used 'blocked' was certainly lacking. Inner critics dug their claws in early on, replacing my usual creative angels and muses. To someone who has been used to creativity being a faithful companion for years now (with a few little hiccups occasionally along the way) it is quite a heavy loss to feel! I also lost some family members, one of whom I loved beyond description, and I cannot even type this now without tears taking over (while I am through deliberate intention a happy person and I celebrate his life more than his death I still get caught unawares but my emotions welling up like this and sticking in somewhere around my throat). I have felt stuck and uncertain as to where my future lay, a feeling that soon becomes overwhelming and chocking all in it's own right.

journal page from one of the....well you can guess what kind of day!

So yes, not long ago I'd have told you to 'take it away' if you'd have brought 2016 up to me (in an 'off with it's head' Queen of Hearts tone)

Now though, as I shared in yesterdays post, things are changing. Creativity has returned. Clarity is everywhere. Passion is back. The murkiness has lifted as I stopped focusing on the obscurity of 'the future' and decided to concentrate on now. Want do I want now? A new studio*? Sure! To create a new class? Righto, let's go! Some of that gorgeous chocolate cake? Oh just one piece then! Find the right biz coach? Oh err, okay! To plan an adventure? Lemme get my planner! To create some new DIY embellishments? Whoop whoop! A cuddle with my bum bum**? Come 'ere boy *smooshies*!

I now don't want this year to end!

I feel there's so much I still want to do! I stopped being wrapped up in what had gone wrong (which just continues the spiral) and took notice of what great things are happening now.

I'm sharing this because at some points this year I really was at a loss, really was at my lowest, but I feel better now and wanted to share how I did it.

Things are still as uncertain for me as they were before...

but what has shifted is my attitude towards that. In truth aren't things always uncertain. Isn't certainty just an illusion we make up? Something we pretend is there to feel safe, but something that doesn't really exist. I think many people have felt their illusions shift with the political shocks this year. I felt it with Brexit. The world as a whole appears to be feeling it with the US Presidental Election results. What I noticed though is that after this year, a year of personal uncertainty, the mass uncertainty could not keep me in fear for very long - not even for a few minutes.

Things are uncertain right now. Things will always be uncertain. My job is to be okay in spite of this, in spite of whatever is going on in my life, or in the world at large.

Tears may well in my eyes at times but I stay in my knowing that all is well. I stay certain, because it is not the job of the world to do that for me. Our emotions, our lives, our achievements and our desires are our own responsibility.

And as this year retires I thank all the uncertainty that presented itself in my life for teaching me how to stay certain;
how to create, and live in, my own stability.

Till Tomorrow

Need a creative kick in the pants?

If so what is the one thing you can do for yourself today to gift yourself that lift/inspiration/revitalization?

If you read my latest blogpost where I share the struggle I've had with my creativity you may know I’ve had a punishing year, but through all this I’ve learnt all we need to do to give ourselves this boost back on our creative path is one simple *small* thing.

When we are in this space we can think that we are soooooo stuck that we need to make huge shifts in order to get ourselves moving again. This is FALSE. Every journey begins with a single step...and besides big shifts are too difficult (if not impossible) to do from this space anyway. How can you travel all the way to the moon if you cannot journey to a nearby sea?

The art table can seem like a looming stranger that only gets more and more distant and difficult to approach the longer we dwell in a place where fear has set in, or the inspiration has dried up, or burnout has taken over. But…it’s still just our art space. It is the same as it was when we were thriving in our creativity, it does not have the ability to have its own thoughts, therefore it simply cannot loom. IT IS NEUTRAL, as is our creativity and both are ready to welcome us back into the fold with open arms. But it does take that one step to turn that intimidating stranger back into an old friend.

For my one step I am currently using the workbook out of my 'How to Ride Your Creative Camels' ekit for the starting of a new project, as it contains sections for helping along every step of the journey. Notice I say ‘starting’, I am not trying to attempt the whole project, I am just starting and using the kit as my one small step for doing this. This kit is the first product I have created for agggggeees and I made it because, well, I need it. As I said this year has been a difficult one but even in the best of times taking the creative path can be hard, it requires courage and it requires conviction, so sometimes we need such things to support us in travelling our paths.

Your one step could be engaging in something new that you know will be of support to you, or it could be the easiest creative thing that you already know how to do, like cutting out images or organising your supplies. Your creative intuition will always know what the thing is that you could do that would put you on your path again. If you cannot hear it you are not listening hard enough. Take a moment, get quiet and when you feel connected just ask internationally ‘what smallest simplest thing I could do right now?’…then do it.

My newest ekit is all about riding your creative camels, traveling your path and dealing with any roadblocks that come up & available from my Etsy shop here:

Good luck (& love)

3 Steps For Dealing with Creative Demotivation

Hello beautiful

Hey! You may have noticed I've not been around here much the last couple of months, so I'm posting (despite the fact I've a million other 'Jennibellie' things I should be doing today like send out my newsletter, or finishing tomorrows next Monthly Challenge project and video) as I wanted to be sure to post something in September. It's silly but I don't like having a zero next to a month on my 'Blog Archive' lol so here's a post all about dealing with demotivation in your creativity and how to deal with it. I originally sent this out to my list last month as I tend to send creative articles out along with the other news/exclusive videos etc.

While my creative juices are flowing again right now truth be told the past few months have been a HUGE time of demotivation for me, as things have happened to flip up my life and routine recently, which is why I was inspired in my last blogpost to write about ensuring you continue your art during the tough times...but that can be tricky, and dealing with that trickiness is what this blogpost is about. I want to share with you the formula I used to see the light at the end of the tunnel & get back on my creative camel (more on that below!)

Step One:

Forgive yourself! Forgive yourself for not doing those things you said you were going to do and for not being as far along as you wish to be. That’s life, if we already accomplished everything we wished to well, then, what would be the point in us sticking around? Truly open yourself up and forgive yourself for everything that is over and done with, you cannot change it anyway.

Step Two:

Move with Gentleness. This is the action step to forgiving yourself. Figure out what you were being most hard on yourself for not doing and start doing that, but with gentleness. Move slowly, don’t expect too much of yourself. As I keep reminding myself ‘a bird in the hand is worth two in the bush’ so allow yourself time to ease back into it.

Step Three:

Self Care Mastery, as I am displaying in the pic above in my sacred space, with a good book, in my fav pink top & wet messy hair from a long self care soak. Motivation is the most difficult thing to accumulate when you are running on empty. Fill yourself up, keep yourself filled up and in the knowledge that doing this will help you achieve those things that you wish to – which may mean taking a lot of breaks as you do Step Two. Also this is where having Passion Projects comes in great, and makes you feel good about yourself because you are actually moving along on something huzzah!! If you haven’t already click here to see July Monthly Challenge video, that runs through all about starting a new Passion Project.

These above are my Passion Project - here is a blogpost I did about these if you want to read more about the benefits of having a project that is just for you (and contains a little more info about what my Passion Project is). And that's it, that's how I moved from feeling stuck and fed up to creating again. I hope if you're dealing with demotivation you'll give it a try, especially if you've been hard on yourself to try and get yourself in creative flow again (because how's that working for you?). What have you got to lose?

Here's something else that will help with getting your creative projects done and is brand new today (see I told you the above steps got me creating again!):

This  'How to Ride Your Creative Camels' ekit contains lotsa goodies to help you better understand and navigate your own creative projects and creative journeys. Learn more via the link.
It is available via my Etsy shop now:

Now I'd better get off and get creating what I'm actually supposed to be doing tee hee don't forget to look out for the new Monthly Challenge project and video in the group tomorrow, here's a sneak peek of how mine's coming on so far:

Toodles for now.

Tough Times, Choose Art

I’m going through a tough time (peeps that have seen the Monthly Challenge video will already know this) so I’m consciously making an effort to keep up creating art consistently, especially in those times when I feel upset/bad/confused and so find it difficult to reach for art despite knowing I will feel better for it.

It can be easy to slip during such times, to make up (extremely plausible sounding) excuses and let your art go.

I’m having to fight all that daily and choose art anyway because if you are a creative person it is SO IMPORTANT to give yourself this comfort/release/support/exploration/self care so that you can face the world and be the wholest version of yourself that you can possibly be in that moment in time, for yourself and others (not just for others!)…even if that means having to force yourself into it.

Art Journal Summer School started a few days ago, I’m so grateful for this because classes and groups are great guideline, a great place for this conscious effort to go. I’m going to be joining the other 500+ peeps in this class and go through the first weeks lessons tomorrow evening, if you want to join us the link is below or if you want a free ‘guideline’ then the link to my art communitys Monthly Challenge is also below.

I’m hoping you’re living better times than I am right now but if not I know through this experience to urge you to pleeeease ensure you keep up your art…when no amount of love nor money might be able to help what is happening to you A*R*T STILL CAN.

Sending You the Habitual State of Love

I’m not a selfie girl (in fact I’m the one who suddenly disappears when you whip the camera out) but tonight the desire was overwhelming. Ever felt so lucky that you just had to capture the moment? Nothing particular occurred, nothing out of the ordinary, just an inner knowledge of peace…and appreciation. Appreciation of having this body. Of being human. Of being alive. Of being alive in this time right here, right now. Of having such options, amenities and possibilities. Of understanding how lucky we are, even in the worst of times, to have all that we have – and even in dire times to have the potential and capacity to find our way through it to the other side and know we will be stronger for it. It is a full feeling, yet a natural one. It is the feeling that is supposed to be our habitual state, and we remember that when we sense it. It is the feeling of trusting everything will always be okay, for all of us.

It is the feeling of love, not the kind which we label and attach to a person or thing, just pure love and I wanted to send it onto (and hopefully into) you too.

Peace and Love

Marination and Videos

Hi!

I'm incredibly disconnected from online happenings right now and although my arty self just wants to chillax and say 'screw it' to turning the computer on and writing a blogpost, I wanted to hop on just to let you know where I'm at...as if you've been following me for any length of time you know I enjoy sharing the journey of being creative as much as all the glorious outcomes from it.

So the past couple of weeks I've been marinating!

Like crazy marination! If I were a chicken breast (or quorn fillet in my case) I'd be far too tasty and juicy for the taste buds to handle (and probably past my use by date now too lol). What I've been marinating in has been my creativity, my creative spaces, my future creative ideas, my current creative projects and my creative journaling.

The journaling I have been doing has been EPIC - I've done a lot of art journaling, junk journaling and spent a lot of time in my idea journals (video of how I capture and action my ideas is here). The kind of journaling that has been most useful, revealing and exciting for me though I've got to say has just been written journaling (video of me sharing my 'regular' written journal is here - there's two videos in this post, the written journal is the second one down) and gratitude journaling (I have a Gratitude Journal Kit which you can get here or by clicking on one of the sneaky peek pictures below if you would like a guide through the process) and I think both have greatly boosted all the work from the other journaling that's been happening - in fact I'd say they've turbo boosted it!

All this journaling has lead me to make a lot of decisions about my creativity and what I want to do/be doing in the future. I've found new areas of creative passion, from things I'd never thought I'd be interested in to new ways I want to get my hands dirty and it's just been great.

True, deep and meaningful marination though has required that I unplug from the internet. At the core of it it's been a re-connection to myself and I believe respecting your creative journey is all about listening to what you need in the moment. Sometimes being online is crazy inspiring for me and other times I need a hiatus (apologies for my hiatus from my Weekly Ramble - last week but I did see that I got a lot of visitors on Friday obviously expecting a blogpost, so I'm sorry for that but YOU are the reason I switched on this week, because I love you!).

I'm still not ready to leave my delicious dish of creative juices just quite yet so here are some PRIVATE previous Weekly Ramble videos I have done (that you can only find if you go hunting through the archives). I'm sharing them here because all three kinda represent where I am right now - the first is about Relaxing in Projects, the second about a Creative Download and the third about Creating a New Space for your creativity to come through and right now I'm in a combination of all three.

So grab a tea or coffee if you're feeling some creative chat time with moi and I can't wait to show you what it's going to be coming out of my marination, so exciting =)

Have a crazy great weekend!
Weekly Ramble's are blogposts I put out on Friday just to share whatever is happening in my art world, regardless of where I'm at in a process, or in my creative flow, or my studio etc the posts are more about capturing a glimpse of the middle than they are showing the shiny finish!

Where YOU Meets YOU: Making Meaningful Creations from Your Journaling

Hello
Today I want to share how wonderful it feels to create art pieces that feel incredibly meaningful to you before you've even begun creating them.

But how can to you get a significant connection to something before it's brought into being? Before you've seen it, touched it or even thought of it?

By pulling meaning directly out of your mirror, your reflection, your giant holder of all things meaningful to you - your journal, and smushing it together with your brilliant creative ideas of course.

I'm working on a new class (well actually I'm working on several, and several other projects of all kinds, all at once - not very clever of me as it then takes aaaaeeeooonnns to get anything ready but my excuse must be that I have to go wherever the creative energy does, as you probably know by now if you've followed me for any length of time) and one thing that came up is how much I create from what appears in my journals - and how much those things mean to me as they hold SO much significance before my hands have even created them.

For instance I shared this dragon I created this week on social media:

and when I think about it creative dragons have come up a lot in my journaling lately (and blogposts too - click here to read 'What a visit with a Fake Famous Artist Taught Me About My Creative Dragons'):

When you create this way there is a connection already present between you and the creation and it is so POWERFUL it's palpable. So in the hopes of inspiring you to take up making some really unique and personal items to you, I thought I'd share some of the things I have made from my journals.

So first up here's something I made a couple of days ago that is really easy to emulate...

as it is simply an atc I created (with scrap card I keep cut and collaged ready for when I want them) with a message on it that comes directly out of my written journaling (see my written journal right there underneath?)

These are great to keep around your journaling space as reminders of whatever is important to you at the present moment; right now I'm owning my power! We are insanely powerful beings, and through my journaling I've learnt to forego any thoughts of unworthiness that hinder that tremendous and beautiful brilliance from coming through. It's satisfying to say 'no' to all those pesky, niggly (and boring) useless thoughts & feels so good to whip out an atc, black pen and crayons as soon as those gems come up in your journal.
Within couple mins BOOM: you have a lovely meaningful reminder of something profoundly important to you.

FYI: this journal space above is a big part of one of those new classes that'll be on Journal Workshops soon enough. Shhh! Don't tell!

Another creation was this doll I shared when I got a 'Creative Download' (aka My Raw Intuitive Journaling Class):

here's the journaling counterpart:

I actually covered this whole 'Creative Download' process/story/development in a couple of other Weekly Ramble blogposts with videos which you can find here:

And finally I also realised one of the projects we did on Journal Workshops for my Birthday Bash (the 'Community Flag' project to be precise), also came about from the journaling I was doing back at that time about creative living (hence 'Creative Life' being on the flag):

If you want to see a video of the flag being created (and some other art technique vids thrown in too) then you can still check them out in the Birthday Bash Group [here] for free. There are many more creations I could share but hey, gotta hold something back for the class! lol.

So I hope sharing these projects has given you some inspiration. I really cannot stress enough how wonderful it feels to create art that feels significant to you before you even start. I realised writing the 'pull meaning directly out of your journal and smush it together with your creative ideas' sentence at the beginning why it feels so meaningful...
because it's where the unique meets the unique:
Important things in your journal = unique to you.
Your brilliant creative ideas = unique to you.
It's such a meaningful process because it's where YOU meets YOU!

Let me know if you give it a go, or if you already do this what have you created? Fill me in the comments below.

Have a wonderfully arty weekend
Much love
