Make a Creative Mojo Box

Hello Gorgeous!

I have a little video for you today, it's about making yourself some beautiful creative energy that is personal to you for your studio space, most specifically for your immediate work space - your desk.

It's purpose is to fuel you, to support you, to encourage you and to assist you in anyway that you need so you may need to take a little time thinking about what means, and what would be most useful for you to put in your mojo box. There is no point just sticking a bunch of things in a box, for it to have energy you need to have a connection with the elements of the box and have an understanding of why X will help you deal with negative chatter of the inner critic, why Y will remind you to fill your project with love, why Z is encouraging more freedom in your creation etc etc. It's a project that may seem a little coo-coo or woo-woo, until you try it, and you realise it will make you listen to what you need to make your creativity flow more easily & address stumbling blocks or barriers you may not have realised were even there before.

So, what do you need in your mojo box?

If you want to join me in turning your Inner Critic into your Creative Coach in my 21 Secrets Lesson then you can find all the details here: 21 Secrets Spring 2015

Have fun making your box,
much love

PS have you heard it's my birthday and you're invited?

Acrylic Storage Solutions

Hi Happy Friday!

This week for my ramble I thought I'd share my acrylic storage solutions after this picture of my paint wall -
got lots of interest when I posted it on my Facebook page

So I've done a little vloggy to show you all my acrylic storage including my faaaaaaaaavourite ever drawer -
which I organise so neatly with...
you guessed it, recycled boxes!

I won't fool you though, I'm sharing a ramble focused on supply goodies rather than projects goodies because I'm planning on posting some of new goodies this weekend (so watch this space journal workshoppers ;) !) in the meantime here's my acrylic storage vlog:

Much love & happy arty weekend

Quick n' Easy Projects

So I've not had much time to spend in the studio just messing around of late, all my creative time has been spent on Journal Workshops (who knew starting a Ning would be more work after it's launch than before? lol) or making up products for my shop as I've been blessed with sales this month. But last night I decided to make a few things just for me, just for the sake of it to release steam, but I still wanted them to be quick to keep me moving through creativity, no hard work going off here oh no lol so here's three quick easy projects I did:

1: Sharpie Pen Journal Page

For a super quick journal page grab a sharpie pen and be bold, draw something without preamble for the foreground first, then worry about the background after - something super quick like flowers and spatters for a background works just as well as anything else does it not? I used watersoluables like gelatos to colour - quick fast coverage, no headaches, job done =)

I also started another page, this time background first:

For a quick background I will nearly 100% of the time head straight to my scrap paper drawer - decoupage some scraps, gesso & acrylic a little with a rag then use some acrylic inks to add splashes of colour. The longest time required here is the drying time of the inks, so I think it's always a good way spend 15mins so you can leave it overnight and next day you've a new background ready to go when you want it =)

2: Paint A Pebble

If you follow my facebook page or my vlog channel you would probably have seen that I love crystals and stones. I often just randomly collect them, so naturally I had a couple laying on the windowsill of my studio...doesn't everyone? Acrylics work fine on them, I did seal the main painted side with a spray varnish for some extra protection but given that I do love the naturalness of stones I left a hidden window in the back:

3: Scrap Paper Beads

Just the basic paper bead technique from my Epic Paper Bead Tutorial, but I still love doing these. Quick & relaxing ahhhhhhhhh I call them one of my 'lazy crafts'. And that was about all I had time for.

What about you?
What are you quick n easy projects/lazy crafts?
I'd love to know, let me know below...

Much love

Wishing Tree Tutorial and Vlog

Hey, so I made a video tutorial and vlog about a week ago and sent them out as The Scoop part of my newsletter but am only now just getting around to posting them properly (crazy week = late posting). Such a big plus for signing up for my newsletter I think, as it's one of the only deadlines I set for myself it can actually prompt some creative-posting action from moi lol anyway I'm getting round to it now.

I'm calling this an unconventional tutorial, because well frankly I think it is, even for me! Other non-conventional tutorials I've done still seem to follow a thread ie recycled art, or homemade craft supply making, while I guess this is more a tutorial driven by my own heart and set of circumstances. This is why there is also a vlog to follow on from the tutorial. Expect plenty more of unconventional things from me this year, as I found some times in 2013 were difficult to get the creative juices flowing, I will be following my heart this year in all creative endeavors I can imagine, can pursue, can create =D

So here are both videos,
I hope you enjoy my unconventional tutorial =)

Posi-pebbles Tutorial

Hi guys I had a little extra clay from a recent project (which you will see v.soon) and given that I was using it for the other project & it was air dry clay it was becoming a little dry, so I decided to make this pretty instant project that is perfect for using the scraps of your clay - whether it be air dry clay, paperclay or polymer clay etc.

So firstly split up your clay into the size you want your posi-pebbles to be, or do as I did and just divide the clay you have equally between the number of finished pebbles you want.

If you want to have them matching perfectly you can weight them, cut them accurately, use a mold etc. I prefer the rustic look, like actual pebbles & stones, so I just guesstimated and formed them with my fingers.

Next you want to add the 'posi' to your 'pebbles' so choose the words you would like to incorporate into your stones. You can write your words with a cocktail stick or tool of you want to include your own handwriting, I however went for some alpha stamps.

I love these mini stamps sets, over here in the UK loads of companies now make these and they are very inexpensive - as you can see I'm a little bit mad for these.

Next wait for your posi-pebbles to dry thoroughly (I left mine for 2 days) then paint them whatever colours you wish with acrylic paints. I choose colours that make me happy, and even colours that I somehow associate with that particular posi-pebbles word.

Once that layer has dried I them dabbed a stone colour (beigey taupe) onto my pebbles with a sponge, then also added some white highlights with my finger tips to make them each unique with markings like real stones and voila!

Gorgeous Posi-pebbles yay!

Mine are going to go in a very special place which you will see in an upcoming tutorial (if you watch the vlog that will accompany that tutorial anyhow - yes you have TWO videos coming, you lucky devils...if I can get on with them and stop making other stuff that is ;) lol)

Till next time

Recycled Flat Bead Tutorial

Hello beautiful! Yes I have a new tutorial for you, so grab you recycling and let's go! Here's what we're making:

They're very easy, a little time consuming depending on what design difficulty you go for but I'll talk more about that in the video. Gorgeous aren't they? Soon as I have time I'll be making a whole stash of these.

Here's the video - let me know what you think about this one and please feel free to share any pics of your own beads on my facebook page, I'd love to see them =)

New Texture Techniques Video

Hello lovelies, I have a new texture techniques video for you which shows a few quick & easy tutorials for getting instant lovely texture.

Here's a project I started to make with it yesterday:

I covered the top of the box with the texture

The project was not intending to be finished here, this texture was only supposed to be a background but being a tactile person I can't bring myself to cover it up - in reality it looks and feels very much like fabric...

but all you really need to do it is paint & paper! Here's the video:

 enjoy gettin' messy =)

Fluorescent Playtime Vlog

'ello, hope you're having an AWEsome Sunday afternoon

I have just a lil vlog to show you, it's nothing special just a vlog of me playing with some new paints but I just wanted to show that this is the kinda thing I do everytime I get a new product. I let loose, so that you can test the product, without being controlled by the limitations of having to produce something 'good'.

If the speed of this vid bores you, (as it is a vlog I didn't spend ages cutting and chopping, just let it ran through my 25mins play) just click '2' on the 'Speed' to double it up ;)

Enjoy the rest of your weekend
Much love

Making Stuff, Making Stuff, Making Stuff...

Hello,
I just wanted to do a quick post to let you know I am still alive

I often feel like if I've not posted a lot of 'new' that week that people might forget I'm here, making things
which is silly, especially as I have posted stuff not only two days ago...but still when I'm behind the scenes 'making things, making things, making things' I get impatient at the fact I'm NOT SHARING NOW lol 'coz that's my fav bit

...so this post is just sneaky peeky pics at somethings I've been up to.

*cough* new art zines *cough*

I've mainly been making new products for my online shop, as I said in a recent post, but then when I said that I meant new stuff that just needed the finishing touches to them however now I'm a like a crazy woman that's been making even more stuff.

Not all of it's for sale exactly,
some is just funky packaging
...just because I love sending out the *best* parcels ever lol
'coz that's my fav bit of this area ;)

my new large envelopes to transport some upcoming handmade art supplies:

gorgeous no?!

I've also been making videos...well just the actual parts
where I record me making something,
because as I may have already mentioned
I am in full 'making things, making things, making things' mode

Upcoming vlog (...when I get around to editing mode lol):

and finally journal page I shared on flickr, facebook etc yesterday:

So that's all for now folks,
don't forget there is a giveaway on my facebook page at the minute for anyone who wants a chance at winning some of my new giant art journal page postcard prints:

(Names drawn tomorrow so hurry)

Happy weekend
Much love
