Why?
Because it’s days like today, when I’ve previously spent ages making
something, and the time has finally come to send it out into the world, that I really love doing
what I do on my little parts of the interweb.
So who’s ready for a super *MASSIVE*

This is my number ONE, most requested video, EVER!
I haven’t
done it before now as I didn't want to do something similar to things that are
already out there. But finally, I think I have managed to do what I wanted. It is 45 minutes long but this video has a bunch of separate tutorials smushed into
one. Tutorials on different ways to make different shapes and different sized
beads. Different techniques for decorating your beads. Tips for what kinds of
paper produce what kinds of beads. Information on tools for beading-making. Tips
for glazing. Tips on this. Tips on that. It is basically RAMMED with information.
So I know you would rather see it rather than read me

ReplyDeleteYOU are AMAZING !!!! I am knew to making paper beads, and yes like you said you get hooked. I have searched for videos on how to make the different types of beads. They were either not explained well enough, you couldnt see what they were doing and so forth. And you, you answered my prayers.

I really enjoyed the tutorial....thank you! My favorite are the tube beads, maybe because you can put your own images on them and personalize them in that way. You did a great job!

ReplyDeleteOh... I just thought I'd pop back and give a hint for people who are looking for a holder for their paper beads... I didn't have a special clay one like Jennibellie and couldn't think what to use until... brainwave!
ReplyDeleteI found that a normal kitchen sponge, wet then dried overnight so that it's goes hard, is perfect for poking and holding toothpicks upright in... and they'e cheap and easy to find too :)

ReplyDeleteEnjoyed your video, plenty of inspiration for embellishment. Have you tried "Tyvek" ( disposable overalls are made from tyvek and quite cheap) easy to work with, paint the tyvek first loosely wind the bead, glue, then hit with a heat-gun, watch your fingers! Fun results. You have very beautiful hands. Magz

Need a beadroller...will get on my next shopping trip so I can get going on this. Looks like great fun. Thanks! BTW, I found your hands beautiful too (ever thought of being a hand model?) and love your nails also.
ReplyDeleteIf you can't wait to try your hand at bead making, you can start without a bead roller...just use a matchstick, toothpick, wooden kitchen skewer or even a chopstick, depending on the size of your bead. I grew up using magazine pages and gift wrap as bead paper, too.
ReplyDeleteGreat tutorial. I was young when Mom taught me to make paper beads using magazines pages for the paper and matchsticks or toothpicks as paper rollers. A little craft glue and, voila, nearly free craft and great memories crafting with my Mom.
