How to Get The Perfect Collage/Decoupage

Hi Guys
Following a question posted on Journal Workshops I was prompted into action to make this video below on how I get my perfectly smooth bubble and buckle-free collaging on board (decoupage). Hope it helps anyone who has previously been frustrated by bumps and bubbles in their work, if you have your own tips or tricks for this issue please join in and post it to the discussion:

See you soon
Much love

  1. thank you for a nice video. I mostly have problems with bubbles when I do decoupage with napkins, but I dont think your approach of putting glue on the back of those before they are put on the background will work, as they will probably disintegrate. Any suggestions?
PS: english is not my native language so I hope I am understandable :)

    1. Hi Karen, yes it would work, the tissue paper I used in this video is far thinner than napkins. This video might help, I'm using the glue on papers about the same weight and texture as napkins and they hold up nicely =) https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=k1-hG38b4gs Hope that helps

  3. Thank you for the great advice about collage. I started out not doing all the steps and you opened my eyes as to the right way for a better result. . Really appreciate your sharing these basic steps. When new to the game it's easy to take off in the wrong direction. I'll be very busy tonight preparing boards. Excited to start all over again. :)

  4. So so helpful Jenny. I have a FEAR of saturating the board. Now I know it is OK to saturate AND I don't know how I missed your technique of gluing the BACK of the paper too! And the credit card trick and treating the papers individually. Ok just the whole video. THANK YOU! I love it! And YOU!

  5. Excellent video! I'm excited to try your techniques. I just visited my boyfriend in England and purchased PVA glue there. Just FYI, your UK PVA glue is so much lovelier than the PVA (most commonly Elmer's) in the US. I wanted to bring some back, but flight regulations would've frowned upon that. :)
